Following the Tigor EV and Tiago EV, Tata Motors will introduce a pure electric variant of the Altroz and even the production version of the H2X concept (codename: X445). While the Altroz EV was already confirmed, the X445 EV has come into the picture only now.
"Our first two offerings on the Alpha architecture will have an EV option," Guenter Butschek, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Motors, told The Economic Times recently.
Elaborating on the company's EV plans, Butschek said that the company has been working on a higher range of 200-230-km-per-charge model as it is the best solution for delivering adequate driving range at an affordable price point. He has further said that the company will price all the future electric passenger cars under INR 15 lakh. Furthermore, he revealed that a connected vehicle solution platform for all its electric vehicles is in the works.
The Tata H2X Concept was unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show last month. The show car will give birth to an A-segment SUV that will likely make its public debut at the Auto Expo 2020 in February next year. Pratap Bose, Head of Design, Tata Motors has earlier revealed that 70-80% of the design is ready to go into production.

Tata Motors has said that the production-spec Tata H2X will provide “exemplary performance, future-ready connectivity and outstanding interior room”. The ICE-equipped variant of the new model will be powered by the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that will be found under the hood of the Tata Altroz. The X445 will be the second model, after the Altroz, to be underpinned by the company's Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) architecture. The concept version measures 3,840 mm in length, 1,822 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.
