Does 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
This is the BYD Yuan concept, which according to one company official who spoke to IAB, will enter production later this year in China. While the design of the front fascia - whether its funky or overdone - seems to be an original attempt from the Shenzhen-based carmaker, the side and rear angles are unmistakably inspired by the Ford EcoSport.
BYD has an even bolder claim to make for the powertrain of this concept. A 1.5-liter petrol engine paired to two electric motors (one on each axle) is capable of accelerating the Yuan from 0-100 km/h in a Jaguar F-Type rivaling 4.9 seconds. It also gives the compact SUV the convenience of AWD.
Inside, the Yuan concept is given an all-black dashboard with Orange inserts for the seats and door trims, coupled with Orange top-stitching. Silver accents on the center console surround a large touchscreen infotainment system, while the gear lever draws inspiration from BMW vehicles. The area surrounding the gear lever is given a Carbon fiber like finish as well.
The circular AC vents located on each side reminds one of the vents seen on Mercedes compact cars like the A Class and GLA Class.
