Ashok Leyland has confirmed the launch of a rigid-axle Ashok Leyland Dost by the end of June. The Dost tipper version, shown first at the Auto Expo 2014, will also be launched before the end of this fiscal year.
The rigid axle suspension Dost will see the front-end of the vehicle getting the more traditional leaf-spring suspensions setup. At present, the Dost is sold with a double wishbone setup at the front. The move is seen as a way to make the Dost cheaper than its competitor, the Mahindra Maxximo Plus, which carries a wishbone setup.
The tipper-version of the Dost was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014 and this would be launched before the end of this fiscal year. It features a remote-controlled tipper that has been fitted to a standard Dost's chassis. The tipper-Dost might see use in garbage disposal and small construction activities.
