Earlier today, we reported that MG India has roped in British actor Benedict Cumberbatch as its brand ambassador. In a fresh development, Team-BHP member RavenAvi has claimed that the MG Hector will launch in May-end and will be priced at par with Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500.
Based on the Baojun 530, the MG Hector will enjoy a distinct identity owing to the several new soft parts and panels it carries. The front-end features a two-tier lighting setup, chrome finish on the upper grille and a sporty bumper with a faux skid plate. Highlights of the side profile include a set of machined alloy wheels, chrome trim on the beltline, and roof rails. The rear of the vehicle seems to take visual inspiration from the Audi Q5 and features a similar boot lid with wrap-around tail lamps.
On the inside, the MG Hector will offer various first-in-segment features, including a 10.4-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system that will provide advanced connectivity options. Other highlights of the equipment list will include a panoramic sunroof, 7-inch driver information display, electric parking brake, power-adjustable seats, Harman-sourced Infinity audio system comprising four speakers, four tweeters and a subwoofer and a 360-degree camera.
Powering the MG Hector will be a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an FCA-sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged oil-burner. Transmission options for the former will include 6-speed manual and dual-clutch automatic units. The diesel motor will initially come exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission but will reportedly receive a 6-speed automatic option at a later stage. While the petrol engine will produce 143 hp and 250 Nm, the diesel motor is likely to offer 173 hp and 350 Nm.
