This 1960 Lambretta Li 150 Series II scooter took 14 months to get back its glory

Very few things look as satisfying as neatly restored retro vehicles. The Lambretta Li 150 Series II scooter in the images is nearly 59 years old but it still has the charm that it had back in 1960 when it rolled out from the showroom. But the journey wasn’t all sunshiny days.

The 1960 Lambretta Li 150 Series II is currently parked in Devashish Jethwani’s garage. The Kota, Rajasthan based collector has a massive collection of vehicles that comprises 17 cars, 44 motorcycles and 13 scooters. The 1960 Lambretta Li 150 Series II in the images shares the garage space with six other Lambretta scooters.

It took 14 long months and INR 1.6 lakh to restore the Lambretta. The dual tone metallic red with white gives the scooter a proper retro look and costs INR 35,000. The paint was imported from Thailand. The fascia features a spherical headlight with a chrome ring. The apron gets a dual tone finish while the front fender features white paint. The cockpit includes a single-pod instrument console that displays the speedometer and the odometer.

Sides reveal the metallic paint with chrome Lambretta logo. The saddle is a split style unit while at the rear is a spare wheel. The rear of the motorcycle also features chrome surround for the tail light. The scooter also gets a sidecar with a luggage rack at the rear and a tall windscreen at the front. The sidecar does not get the dual tone paint and it is seen in a shade of white.

The scooter was restored to its stock specification. Thus, mechanical specifications continue to feature 148cc, two-stroke engine that produces a maximum of 6.6 bhp at 5,300 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a four-speed transmission. Stopping power comes from drum brakes on both ends.
