The Scala is the first production model to feature Skoda's new emotive design language for the interior. The cabin has a beige-black colour theme, while the virtual cockpit digital cluster will be an optional feature on the high-end trims.

The company has revealed that the Scala will have a boot space of 467 litres that can be expanded to 1410 litres by folding the rear backrest. The company has said that the Skoda Scala will boast a "new emotional exterior and interior design language for the first time in series production." The aesthetics of the new model are based on the Vision RS concept showcased at the Paris Motor Show earlier this month.

A teaser released previously shows that the model will become the first Skoda to have the brand spelt out in individual letters instead of a logo. Underpinning the Scala will be the VW Group's MQB A0 small car platform.

The hatchback will have an overall length of 4.3 metres along with a wheelbase of 2.6 metre, and will be available with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with peak power ranging from 84 bhp to 109 bhp, and a 1.5-litre petrol motor with a maximum power of up to 148 bhp. A 1.6-litre diesel engine could also be offered. The gasoline burners could employ a mild-hybrid system featuring a 48-volt belt starter generator.
