On 14 September 2018, IAB reported that Tata Motors has no immediate plans for a Nexon JTP. This piece of information came to us straight from Mayank Pareek, President (PV unit), Tata Motors. While the rumours of the performance-oriented Nexon have been put to rest, Team-BHP forum member RavenAvi states that the company has started working on a BSVI-compliant hybrid variant.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza-rivalling Tata Nexon has been on sale in a price bracket of INR 6.32-10.67 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurgaon).

Tata Motors is reportedly about to place the order for 10,000 electric junction boxes that will be used in the Tata Nexon Hybrid. While the company is yet to divulge details on the rumoured electrified variant, it could use expert solutions from the Coventry-based Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC). In October 2016, the technical centre had presented two 48V mild hybrid powertrains codenamed 'P0' and 'P2'. It is also working on upgrading the Nexon's 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine to comply with the BSVI emission norms that will become effective in April 2020.

Full-hybrid powertrains are still quite expensive for India, mild-hybrid powertrains, on the other hand, are gaining popularity here, mostly due to their favourable cost-benefit ratio.

On 7 September 2018, Tata Motors launched a special version of its sub-4-metre SUV. Dubbed Tata Nexon Kraz (pronounced Craze), the special edition of the sub-compact SUV commemorates the model's first-year anniversary in the market. The limited-run model is available in only a 'TROMSO BLACK' paint with a grey roof. There are several 'neo-green' highlights around the body, including on the grille, the wheel caps and the ORVMs.

With a monthly sales average of 4,320 units (March 2018 - August 2018), the Tata Nexon has managed to establish itself pretty well in the highly competitive entry-level SUV segment. While details on the purported Tata Nexon hybrid variant remain sketchy at the moment, a well-priced and a more frugal version should find a favourable response from the buyers.
