The Nexon could become the best performance vehicle in its segment if Tata Motors were to offer a JTP variant. However, there's no plan for a sportive variant at the moment.
Tata Motors is in no hurry to have an expansive lineup of JTP performance vehicles. It will first launch the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP before deciding on the next models. At the Tiago NRG's launch, Tata Motors CEO Guenter Butschek confirmed that the first two models are arriving this festive season.
Tata Motors (PV unit) President Mayank Pareek has confirmed to IAB that there are no immediate plans for a Nexon JTP. Asked if it will consider introducing the sub-4 metre performance SUV in the future, he said "Certainly."
The JTP variants of the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor share a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 110 PS at 5,000 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 2,000-4,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission sends power to the wheels. Both have a lower ground clearance, different tyres and suspension settings.

The Tata Nexon JTP variant could use a more potent version of either the 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged petrol engine (110 PS/170 Nm) or the 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq turbocharged diesel engine (110 PS/260 Nm), with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. In addition to a more powerful engine, it could feature a sportier exterior and interior styling.
