Indian-spec Nissan Kicks’ in-depth media unveil to be held in early to mid-December

Nissan has revealed only the exterior of the Indian-spec Kicks so far, saving the interior and specifications for the media drive, which is scheduled in the first half of December.

The Indian-spec Nissan Kicks is quite different from the global version, visually and mechanically. Concerning design, our version has the modified front-end that comprises a distinctive V-motion grille, unique bumper design, fog lamps set even lower and an aluminium skid plate. More importantly, it is bigger with an 89 mm longer, 53 mm wider and 66 mm taller body.

The interior of the Indian-spec Nissan Kicks may have a layout similar to that of the global version, but it will offer extra space, thanks to the 63 mm longer wheelbase. In that case, expect a soft-touch dashboard in the signature ‘Gliding Wing’ design, semi-digital instrument panel with a full-colour 7-inch driver information display, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Zero Gravity front seats among the main features.

The Indian-spec Nissan Kicks may come with two engine options: 1.5-litre H4K petrol and 1.5-litre K9K diesel. The petrol engine is a naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit that produces 106 PS at 5,600 rpm and 142 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The diesel engine is manufactured in varying outputs, but in this particular SUV, it is expected in the high 110 PS/245 Nm spec.

Thanks to a 63 mm longer wheelbase, the Indian-spec Nissan Kicks will offer more interior space than its global counterpart.

The Nissan Kicks will rival the Hyundai Creta in India. Competition in terms of pricing will include the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra S201. The premium B-SUV will be launched in January 2019, and prices could start at around INR 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
