The Tata Tiago NRG (pronounced Energy) is the crossover-styled version of the company's A2-segment hatchback, that is arriving within days on the market. Here's all that you need to know about the new compact vehicle.
The new Tata Tiago NRG will launch on September 12. The Tiago has been clocking an average monthly sales of 7,974 units (March 2018 -August 2018), and the top-end variant should help the carmaker add fillip to sales and margins during the festive period. The new model will become a direct rival to the Maruti Suzuki Celerio X and the base variant of the Ford Freestyle.
The Tata Tiago NRG is longer, wider, and taller than the regular variants of the Tiago. It measures 3,793 mm in length, 1,665 mm in width, and 1,587 mm in height. In comparison, the standard vehicle measures 3,746 mm in width, 1,647 mm in height, and 1,535 mm in height. The disparity is purely from the new plastic parts that the Tiago NRG features. The car also benefits from a ground clearance of 180 mm, 10 mm higher than that of the regular model.
The Tata Tiago NRG features a black plastic cladding around the lower section of its body. The bumpers carry a faux scuff plate each and look more rugged owing to the dual-tone look. The grille is flanked by a black-coloured trim. The black finish is extended to the ORVM housings, B-pillars, roof rails, and the roof. Furthermore, the new model gets smoked projector headlamps, new dual-tone four-spoke alloy wheels, and black trim for the tailgate.
The interior sports a grey upholstery with contrast orange stitching. The dashboard features a silver and orange trim. The cabin is equipped with a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation. The steering wheel sports audio and telephony controls. Other features include a 6-way adjustable driver seat and a cooled glovebox.
The Tata Tiago NRG will go on sale with three colour options - Malabar Silver, Canyon Orange, and Fuji White. In comparison, the standard variants of the Tiago are available in six colours - Sunburst Orange, Berry Red, Pearlescent White, Espresso Brown, Titanium Grey, and Platinum Silver.
In terms of engine specs, the Tata Tiago NRG is similar to the regular variants of the Tata's best seller. It will be available with a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol motor that outputs 84 bhp and 115 Nm, and a 1.1-litre Revotorq turbo-diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 69 bhp and a peak torque of 140 Nm. Both the motors are mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
