A Delhi-based Toyota dealer has reported that the Yaris currently commands a 2 month waiting period.

The report mentions a Delhi dealership as the source of this information. The Toyota Yaris has received over 7,200 bookings across India with the bulk of the demand coming from South India, followed by Delhi-NCR. The report, citing a company spokesperson, adds that around 1,000 units were booked in the Delhi-NCR region within 20 days of the price announcement. The encouraging demand for the Toyota Yaris has resulted in the company announcing an increase in the production capacity of its Bidadi plant by 40,000 units.

Sales data for May 2018 reveals that the Toyota Yaris clocked sales of 2,843 units edging out the Honda City (2,763 units). However, the Maruti Ciaz (4,024 units) led the segment followed by the Hyundai Verna (3,801 units), presumably because of their diesel variants. Toyota has no plans to launch a diesel variant of the Yaris since petrol models account for 80% of the sales in its segment.

Toyota offers the Yaris with 7 airbags and ABS with EBD and BA as standard across all trims. It comes with several segment-first features like electrically adjustable driver's seat, tyre pressure monitor, front parking sensors, gesture control for the infotainment system, roof mounted rear AC vents and more.

A 1.5 L naturally aspirated petrol engine is the sole option on offer. It produces 109 PS and 140 Nm transferring power to the front wheels via either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT. Both variants, manual and automatic, are offered in four grades - J, G, V, and VX. The entry-level Toyota Yaris J manual is priced at INR 8.75 lakhs while the automatic variant is priced at INR 9.95 lakhs. The fully-loaded Toyota Yaris VX costs INR 12.85 lakhs (manual) and INR 14.07 lakhs (automatic).  All prices mentioned here are ex-showroom, India.

The Yaris is a petrol-only offering and Toyota has no plans to launch a diesel variant any time soon as 80% of the demand in its segment is for petrol variants.

By the end of May, TKM had dispatched more than 4,000 units of the Toyota Yaris to dealers. The sedan has helped the company register a double-digit sales growth of 20% for the month of May. The Toyota Innova Crysta remains the company's highest selling model.
