Ford unveiled the 2018 Ford Focus Sedan in China this week. Here’s a visual comparison between the 2018 Ford Focus Sedan and the 2014 Ford Focus Sedan.
The 2018 Ford Focus Sedan has an all-new design and looks drastically different from its predecessor. Like the 2018 Ford Focus hatchback, it has more mature proportions and looks more premium. While the previous generation model was more on the sporty side in terms of design, the new generation model looks rather graceful. It has the best-in-class drag coefficient of 0.250 Cd. The focus on efficiency is seen in case of the headlamps too, which have LED main light and DRL.
The interior of the 2018 Ford Focus Sedan is also entirely new. A rotary gear selector has replaced the traditional gearshift lever, while in place of a mechanical parking brake, there’s an electronic parking brake now. The centre console has a bare minimum amount of buttons and knobs. There’s a floating display for the SYNC 3 infotainment system now. The equipment list now includes a wireless charging pad and the Ford Co-Pilot360 safety suite as well.
The redesigned Ford Focus Sedan is more spacious and comfortable too. The knee clearance has improved by more than 50 mm, while shoulder-room has increased by almost 60 mm. The legroom has also improved, by 70 mm.
The 2018 Ford Focus is Ford’s first carline based on the new C2 platform designed to bring crash performance and interior space improvements and support improved aerodynamics for reduced fuel consumption. In China, Changan-Ford will offer it with 1.0- and 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engines and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
