Introduced in December 2014, the China-only Ford Escort has received a facelift for MY2018. The 2018 Ford Escort was unveiled at Ford’s Go Further event in Chongqing this week.
The new Ford Escort has a more stylish front fascia, thanks to the new HID headlamps with integrated C-shaped LED DRL and a chrome outer bezel, new five-bar upper grille and a full-width lower grille with grille bar. For a more appealing profile, the sedan has gained 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the revised LED tail lamp extends further into the deck lid. The bumper, fog lamps and license plate recess also are somewhat new. Up top, there’s a Shark fin antenna at the rear now.
The Ford Escort has received some interior enhancements as well. There’s a new instrument cluster with a circular driver information display and a new, Urban Grey and Domino black two-tone colour scheme. Ford has expanded the equipment list with the addition of keyless entry, push-button start, auto-dimming IRVM, power memory seats and more.
The pre-facelift Ford Escort is available with only a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine. The facelifted Ford Escort range includes a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine and an all-new 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine. Gone is the 5-speed manual transmission. 6-speed manual and 6-speed SelectShift automatic are the transmission choices now.
