The Tata Nexon AMT’s launch was previously said to take place early this year. However, according to Team-BHP forum member RavenAVi, Tata Motors has postponed the launch to a date to around mid-May this year.
According to the sources cited by the forum member, Tata Motors has postponed the Tata Nexon AMT's launch because the SUV needs more fine-tuning. The Tata Nexon AMT has a 6-speed automated manual transmission. The Renault Duster is also available with a 6-speed AMT, but with a body longer than four metres, it falls in a higher price segment.
Tata Motors will offer the Tata Nexon AMT model will a creep function and a Smart Hill Assist feature. Creep function allows the vehicle to crawl on releasing the brake pedal, and this is very useful in heavy traffic and during parking. Smart Hill Assist prevents the vehicle from rolling-back during hill climbs in stop-and-go traffic.
Like the Tata Nexon MT, Tata Nexon AMT buyers will have two turbocharged engine options: 1.2L Revotron and 1.5L Revotorq. The three-cylinder petrol engine produces 110 PS and 170 Nm of torque. The four-cylinder diesel engine develops 110 PS and 260 Nm of torque. The driver will have a selection of three drive modes in the AMT model: Eco, City and Sport - a first for any AMT-equipped vehicle in India.

With the launch now likely to take place near mid-May, Tata Motors is unlikely to open bookings anytime before late next month. However, dealerships have already started taking pre-orders unofficially.
