Ford is displaying the Ford Fiesta Active at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Sub-compact crossovers are increasingly penetrating the market of B-segment hatchbacks. Between these two, Ford sees a potential for a hatchback with SUV styling that can lure customers needing the best of both. Hence, the Blue Oval is bringing the Ford Fiesta Active to the European market next year.
The Ford Fiesta Active features a more adventurous styling with the SUV-inspired theme. Mesh pattern grille in black with a black border, all-around body cladding, fender flares, gloss black ORVMs and roof and faux skid plates are among the exterior highlights. The side sills and the integrated roof bars have the same shiny, aluminium look to them. The 17-inch two-tone wheels are wrapped in 205/45 R17 "Extra Load" tyres from Michelin. The Fiesta Active has an 18 mm higher ride height.
Inside, the Ford Fiesta Active features bespoke detailing on various elements. The air vents, door panels and seat covers have body colour trim. Additionally, the seat covers have stitching in body colour and white, as well as unique styling pattern in the middle. The gearbox cover also has white stitching.
Ford has not released specifications of the Ford Fiesta Active yet. The regular Fiesta is available with 1.1-litre Ti-VCT naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre TDCi turbocharged diesel engines. The Fiesta Active crossover may get only the EcoBoost and TDCi engine options. The EcoBoost engine is available in 100 PS/170 Nm, 125 PS/170 Nm and 140 PS/180 Nm versions. The TDCi engine is available in 85 PS/215 Nm and 120 PS/270 Nm versions. 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic (100 PS 1.0L EcoBoost-only) are the transmission choices of these engines.
