As Tata Motors looks to expand their portfolio with premium products in the coming years, the company is mulling over establishing a premium line of dealerships, reports Moneycontrol. The move is likely to be inspired by Maruti Suzuki's NEXA line of premium dealerships, which have 200 outlets selling high-end models.

Need to segregate the sales channels will arise to distinguish Tata's premium and entry-level products.

The report states that Tata Motors is working on a few premium products like a hatchback, sports utility vehicle and an executive sedan. Need to segregate the sales channels will arise to distinguish Tata's premium and entry-level products like the Nano and Tiago.

When asked about a premium line of dealerships, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Business Unit President Mayank Pareek said, “We are working on it”.

The premium hatchback segment has proven lucrative, judging by the sales of the Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20, so it is no surprise that Tata wants a share of this pie. Codenamed Tata X451, the future model is rumoured to be a hatchback with crossover-derived styling and based on Tata's Advanced Modular Platform (AMP).
