The 2017 SsangYong Rexton has made its European debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The redesigned model is known as SsangYong Rexton G4 in South Korea, where its sales has commenced.
The 2017 SsangYong Rexton features a revolutionary design inspired by the SsangYong LIV-2 concept. The new design has been evolving since 2013 when SsangYong introduced the SsangYong LIV-1 concept. The 2017 SsangYong Rexton is 4,850 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and 1,825 mm tall. Compared to the previous generation model, it is 95 mm longer, 60 mm wider and 15 mm lower. At 2,865 mm, the new generation model's wheelbase is 30 mm longer.
The SsangYong Rexton has retained the body-on-frame construction for its fourth generation. The redesigned model is powered by a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that develops 181 PS and 420 Nm of torque. The four-cylinder diesel engine sends power to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic transmission. The latter is made by Mercedes-Benz. A part-time four-wheel drive system with low-range is available for mild off-roading.
The 2017 SsangYong Rexton is loaded with features like HID headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED fog and cornering lamps, 20-inch wheels, 7-inch driver information display, Nappa leather seats, 9.2-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, tri-zone climate control, heated steering wheel, 3D AVM (Around View Monitoring) and nine airbags.
The 2017 SsangYong Rexton will go on sale in Europe in October.
