Will arrive in showrooms across India this year.
VW India has unveiled the second generation VW Tiguan at the Auto Expo 2016 in Noida. The compact premium crossover is confirmed to launch in the Indian market this year.
The 2016 VW Tiguan drops the boxy crossover looks of the previous model for a brand new design that draws influence from the VW Cross Coupe GTE. It features a pair of angular LED headlamps with LED DRLs directly flowing into a grille, large 18 inch diamond cut alloy rims, a small chrome element on the front wing, a chrome line that runs across the side, chrome underlining for the window line, and roof rails.
The new VW Tiguan has grown in size, measuring 4485 mm long (70 mm increase), 1839 mm (30.5 mm increase) wide, 1633 mm high (33 mm lower), and has a wheelbase of 2682 mm (76 mm longer).
Inside, the 2016 VW Tiguan steps up the premium quotient with new materials and equipment. It offers an optional 12.3 inch Active Info display from the 2015 VW Passat, which displays the instrument dials and navigation in full screen.
A 5-inch non color infotainment display is standard, while an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen is available as optional equipment. It is also equipped with the largest panoramic sunroof in its class, and electric 4-way lumbar support and massage function for the front seats.
Power outputs are between 125 PS and 240 PS, and the company claims that the new lineup of four TSI petrol and four TDI diesel engines is 24 percent more fuel efficient than the outgoing model. While a front wheel drive system is standard in base variants, a 4MOTION AWD system will be offered in higher variants.
