An XL and a low-roof variant are among the bodystyles that will be offered.
According to a German media report, the next generation VW Tiguan SUV will have its unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA 2015) in September this year. Based on the MQB platform, the new Tiguan will also spawn a 7-seat XL variant and a stylish Coupe-like version to rival the Range Rover Evoque.
Judging by these renderings, the new Tiguan will draw some inspiration from its larger cousin the Touareg, which received a facelift last year. Not only that, but the new Tiguan will also benefit from a variant with a third row of seats to further increase its practicality.
Power for the new Tiguan is reported to come from four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, matched to manual and DSG automatic transmissions. Keeping inline with VW's strategy, a plug-in hybrid variant of the SUV will also be rolled out for select markets. VW's 4MOTION all-wheel drive technology will be seen at the helm of sending power to all wheels.

The current generation Tiguan was not sold in India, however, VW could explore the possibility of launching the new generation model in the country. The Tiguan, especially the model with 7 seats, will rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner in the country, while offering a modern monocoque platform and German build quality.
