Inside, the design could borrow equipment ideas from the VW Golf R Touch concept, which includes a large toucshscreen infotainment display, touch-enabled HVAC controls and a Virtual Cockpit instrument display.

It will be based on a newer version of the MQB platform, and feature lightweight materials like aluminum and plastic in its body construction.

As for engines under the hood, the standard VW Golf could offer a diverse range of power trains, which includes the latest 1.0 TSI petrol motor compatible with the MQB platform. A plug-in hybrid (like the Golf GTE) and EV variants could also join other rumored models like a 300 hp VW Golf GTI and a range-topping 400 hp Golf RS.
