The Evoque in China comes with a 2.0L petrol engine.
Land Rover will roll out the first China-made Range Rover Evoque on October 21, according to a report on ChinaDaily's website. The Chery-Jaguar Land Rover Automotive's JV production plant in Changshu located in the Jiangsu province, will make the 5-door version of the Evoque. The 3-door model will continue to be imported from the Halewood plant in the U.K.
The Chery-JLR joint venture was announced in November 2012. The joint venture, apart from making the Evoque, will manufacture the Freelander 2 and the long wheelbase XF which is exclusive to the Chinese market. The planned production capacity for the first phase will be 130,000 units per annum.
The joint venture decided to make the Evoque first given its popularity among the Chinese. According to Zhu Guohua, deputy president of the joint venture, one in three Jaguar Land Rovers sold is an Evoque.
The Evoque in China is powered by the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (a Ford EcoBoost unit) capable of 240 hp and 340 Nm of torque. It comes with a 4WD system and a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The locally made Evoque is expected to have its public premiere at the Guangzhou Motor Show next month. The CBU-route Evoque with the 9-speed transmission was launched in India at the Auto Expo 2014.
