The Geely Panda, Panda Cross and Emgrand7 sedan were showcased at the 2014 Colombo Motor Show by Micro Cars Ltd., the Chinese brand's official distributor for Sri Lanka. Micro assembles Geely cars in Sri Lanka.
Geely Panda
The Geely Panda entry level hatchback is marketed as the safest compact car in its segment. The safety equipment include optional dual airbags and standard ABS with EBD. Dimension wise, the city car is 3,598 mm in length, 1,630 mm in width and 1,465 mm in height. The wheelbase stands at 2,340 mm.
Under the hood is a basic 1.0-litre gasoline engine which produces 67 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 88 Nm of torque at 3,600 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission drives the front wheels.
Geely Panda Cross
As the name implies, the Panda Cross is a Panda hatchback with outdoorsy features such as black bumpers with silver skid plates, roof rack and a hatch door-mounted spare wheel. The interior has been retained but the color theme is slightly different.
The dimensions are identical to the hatchback sibling. Power comes from a 1.3-litre gasoline engine which belts out 84.48 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 5,200 rpm, when mated to a 5-speed MT.
Geely Emgrand7
The Emgrand7 is the flagship sedan of the Chinese automaker in Sri Lanka. Measuring 4,635 mm in length, 1,789 mm in width, 1,470 mm in height and 2,650 mm in wheelbase, the sedan is strapped with a 1.8-litre gasoline unit which is mated either to a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission. The power and torque figures stand at 136.7 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 172 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm respectively.
