Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) launched the new generation (Maruti) Suzuki Wagon R in Karachi last Friday. The vehicle, in the same configuration as sold in India, is imported from Indonesia as components, and assembled locally.
The car measures 3.6 m long, 1.47 m wide, 1.67 m tall with a wheelbase of 2.4 m. It sits on 145/80 R13 tires and has a ground clearance of 170 mm.
The Pakistani Wagon R gets the same 998 cc K10B three-cylinder Euro 2 compliant engine that develops 67 hp @ 6,200 rpm and 90 Nm @ 3,500 rpm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Three variants of Wagon R are launched - VX, VXR and VXL - in 9 body colours.

- VX: 899,000 rupees (INR 5.60 lakh)
- VXR: 1,049,000 (INR 6.53 lakh)
- VXL: 1,089,000 (INR 6.79 lakh)
The top-end model gets features such as Power Windows, Power Steering, air conditioning and a 2-DIN audio system, but does not offer ABS or airbags.
Pak Suzuki has a market share of 54 percent and produced 77,000 cars from its plant last year. The company sells the Cultus, Liana, Swift, Wagon R, Mehran (800), APV, Jimny, Bolan, Cargo Van (Omni) and Ravi (Omni pickup) in the local market.
