An avid Indian Autos Blog reader sent us these images of the Hyundai Eon 1.0-liter Kappa which has already gone on sale. Dealerships have started accepting bookings for the car, and the first customer deliveries are set to take place early next month.
The Eon 1L will be available in a single trim level called Magna Plus. This variant gets features such as AC, power steering and front power windows. Compared to the Eon 0.8L Magna Plus, the Eon 1L Magna Plus loses out on a music system and internally adjustable wing mirrors.
The Eon 1L can be identified thanks to a "1.0" badge on the bootlid and the "Kappa" badge on the right-hand side front fender. Popping open the bonnet, the engine cover carries a "K 1.0" badge (Kappa 1.0-liter). There are no other changes on the outside or inside.
Powering the Eon 1L is a three-cylinder 998 cc with Hyundai's VTVT technology. While Hyundai India have not disclosed the power and torque outputs, we estimate them to be at 65 bhp and 95 Nm, identical to the 2014 i10 1.0-liter sold in Europe. Thanks to VTVT, we expect the Eon 1L to possibly deliver higher fuel efficiency than the regular Eon which is rated at 21.1 km/l by the ARAI.
The Eon 1.0-liter Kappa is priced at INR 3.85 lakhs, ex-Showroom Mumbai.
