After showing you leaked patent images of the 2014 Land Rover Discovery yesterday, we can show you a few press shots this afternoon. Don't mistake these for leaks, as the company has just made an official announcement, revealing further details including images of the refreshed 'Disco'.
The new Disco gains a new grille and bumper, while the headlights are re-profiled with the addition of daytime running lights. Two new alloy wheel designs have also been added to options. And as you would have noticed, the 'Land Rover' badging on the hood is replaced with the letters 'Discovery'.
And attention readers from the USA! Don't search for the '4' badge on the bootlid as that is now replaced by the word 'Discovery'. These are hints that LR wants to establish the Discovery as a separate nameplate.
The 3.0-liter SDV6 engine now emits 213g of CO2 per km as against 230g/km on the current model. Fuel efficiency has also bettered to 35.3mpg (12.5 km/l) and all 2014 Discovery variants come with the 8-speed ZF auto box. New features include Wade Sensing technology, Blind Spot Monitoring, Closing Vehicle Sensing, Reverse Traffic Detection and T-junction Cameras apart from Meridian audio systems.
Land Rover Global Brand Director, John Edwards -
