Announced in early September this year, the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban celebrates its public debut at the 2013 LA Auto Show.
Measuring 5,699 mm in length, 2,044 mm in width and 1,889 mm in height, you know why GM calls this a full-sized SUV. The 2015 Suburban is offered with 2WD and 4WD and while the former weights 2,529 kg the 4WD is heftier at 2,637 kg.
The all-new 2015 Suburban celebrates the 80th anniversary of the ‘Suburban’ nameplate and is the 12th generation model (the first gen Suburban was launched in 1935.
Both variants draw power from a 5.3-liter V8 FlexFuel engine which is dubbed ‘EcoTec3’. This engine produces 355 hp and 519 Nm of torque, and comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Standard safety features include forward collision alert, front park assist, lane departure warning, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert and adaptive cruise control. The 2015 Suburban also features Chevrolet’s Safety Alert Seat which offers directional vibrations to alert the driver about potential crash threats. Another interesting and first-in-segment feature is the front-seat center airbag which is offered on variants with bucket seats.
The new Suburban will be built at GM’s Arlington, Texas assembly plant. It is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in the first quarter of 2014.
