Today Skoda surpassed another landmark by manufacturing the 4,000,000th unit of the Skoda Octavia at its main plant in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic. The anniversary vehicle was a third-generation model in ‘Race-Blue’ color. The Octavia has been in production since 1996 and is by some margin the brand’s best-selling car.

The Octavia is Skoda's best selling car in its 118-year history.

Turning the pages of history, we learn that the Skoda Octavia was the first fully new model that marked the start of the partnership between Skoda and Volkswagen in 1996. 38% of the brand's sales since that time have come from the Octavia, which makes it the undisputed best seller in the company's 118 year history.

Besides Mlada Boleslav, the Octavia is made in India (Aurangabad), Russia (Nizhny Novgorod), Ukraine (Solomonovo) and Kazakhstan (Ust-Kamenogorsk).

Skoda have added three new members to the Octavia family this year through the vRS, Combi and Combi vRS. The vRS is the fastest Skoda in history with a top speed of 248kph.

The Octavia is predicted to continue playing an important hand in the Czech brand's goal of selling 1.5 million cars per year by 2018.
