We think Ssangyong is not sure of which segment to place their bets on. Perhaps that explains why the Mahindra owned South Korean marque is experimenting with plethora of design studies at every international motor show.
Starting with the XIV-1, the car maker kept churning out concept models one after the other with varying dimensions which were promptly unveiled at major auto shows. The latest in that line is the Ssangyong LIV-1 Concept which took the show floor at the ongoing Seoul Motor Show.
We already posted official images of the car and here are a pair of live shots from the show floor. The second image was tweeted out by Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra group.
The LIV-1 which is explained by Ssangyong as the "Limitless Interface Vehicle" is a full sized 7 seater SUV which previews the possible successor of the Ssangyong Rexton, an old Mercedes-based SUV that had limited life to enjoy. The heavy investment in the design department has definitely paid off, as the concepts have a wide appeal and are turning Ssangyong's notoriety for designing visual disasters, into a thing of the past.
Ssangyong seems to be continuously improving the aesthetics of its vehicles and the LIV-1 emerges as its best interpretation so far. The neatly proportioned SUV offers 2+2+3 seating configuration making it inherently suitable for the SUV crazy sub-continent.
