The Skoda Rapid Spaceback gets its world premiere at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Targeting the 'high-volume compact segment', the Rapid Spaceback will be positioned in between the Fabia estate and the Octavia estate. The market launch will be conducted in October this year for Europe.
The Spaceback, though shorter than the Rapid sedan in length, gets a 415-liter boot which grows to 1,380-liters when the rear seats are folded down. On higher variants, Skoda will offer a huge panoramic sunroof and the space on the bootlid above the number plate enclosure will come in a black color.
Front, side and head airbags, ABS, ESC, Xenon headlights, hill hold system and tire pressure monitoring are some of the features you can look forward to. Available with 4 petrol and 2 diesel engines, the Spaceback outputs power from 73bhp to 120bhp. The most fuel efficient engine consumes only 26.31km/l while the 'greenest' engine emits a mere 99g of CO2 per km.
Skoda says that models like the Rapid Spaceback are aimed at bringing the 1.5 million units annual sales for the brand in 2018. The Czech car maker will be introducing one new or re-engineered product every 6 months to further ensure that their 2018 sales target is met.
