To be priced cheaper than in Malaysia, says company.
Proton Iriz, Malaysia's first global car that was introduced in the domestic market in September last year, will be launched in Indonesia in May, Proton Edar Indonesia's sales and marketing head, Winara Arigayo, has told the local media.
Winara believes that the car will be "more affordable" in Indonesia, the report said. Also, there will be minimal differences between the Malaysian and Indonesian versions of the Iriz.
The Proton Iriz is available with two engine options, both VVT units: one is a 1.3-litre unit that makes 93.8 hp and 120 Nm of torque, while the larger engine can produce 107.2 hp and 150 Nm of torque. Gearbox choices include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
An earlier report suggests that the Proton Iriz will get a new Euro 5 compliant powerplant for overseas markets.
Prices start at RM 42,438 (around INR 7.33 lakhs), and features on the top-spec Iriz include a touchscreen infotainment system with Wi-Fi, keyless entry and reverse parking sensors and camera. Safety equipment comprises front, side, and curtain airbags, and a plethora of assists like ABS, EBD, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Hill Hold, Traction control, Electronic Stability Control, and Vehicle Dynamic Control.
