The Piaggio Group showcased the Piaggio Liberty 125 at the Auto Expo. The company says that the Liberty could open a new segment in the Indian scooter market, leading us to believe that Piaggio is indeed considering launching it in India.
Globally, Piaggio has sold over 1 million copies of the Liberty. The model showcased at the Auto Expo is powered by a single-cylinder 125 cc 3v engine producing 10.2 hp at 7,500 rpm and 10.43 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. It uses a CVT gearbox to transmit the power.
Features in the Liberty include a 10.8 liter storage area, front disc brake, chrome finished wing mirrors and a classy Vespa-like instrument cluster. The white Liberty you see in the images sports additional equipment such as a large windscreen and an additional storage box at the rear.
