Expected to cost under INR 10 lakhs, ex-Showroom.
Ahead of its launch in the coming weeks, Fiat India is teasing the Abarth Punto with a new social media campaign with the #WhoAmI hashtag. A camouflaged Abarth Punto with this hashtag was also seen at a dealership in Karnataka recently.
The Abarth Punto will be the second member of the Abarth sub-brand in India, which was introduced in August this year via the Abarth 595 Competizione. Unlike the 595 Competizione which is imported through the CBU route, the Abarth Punto will be made at the Ranjangaon plant alongside the regular Punto Evo hatchback.
Power for the Abarth Punto comes from a 1.4-liter T-Jet four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, the same engine seen on the Linea T-Jet. On the Abarth Punto however, this engine makes 143 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 211.52 Nm of torque between 2,000–4,000 rpm, which translates to a 0-100 km/h time of only 9.53 seconds. The transmission on the Abarth Punto, unlike the Abarth 595 which relies on an AMT, is a 5-speed manual.

16-inch Scorpion alloy wheels, lower ride height (reduced by 30 mm), Abarth-branded decals and badges, aluminium pedals and contrast stitching are features exclusive to the Abarth Punto. Dealerships have already started accepting bookings for a sum of INR 20,000, and reports suggest the performance hatch will be priced just under INR 10 lakhs, ex-Showroom.
