Following the limited edition Chevrolet Sail sedan, a similar variant has been rolled out on the Sail U-VA as well.
The hatchback gets features such as body decals, a limited edition badge on the bootlid, seat covers and pillows, illuminated sill plates, a chrome garnish for the bootlid, roof rails and integrated turn signals on the wing mirrors.
The Chevrolet Sail U-VA Limited Edition is priced from INR 4.47 lakhs ex-Showroom, Thane. The diesel variants are powered by a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine producing 78 PS at 4,000 rpm and 205 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm whereas the petrol models get a 1.2-liter engine developing 86 PS at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm.
Both engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. While the petrol claims to 18.2 km/l, the diesel has its fuel efficiency rated at 22.1 km/l (ARAI approved figures).
Sales of the Sail U-VA have never reached its expected levels. From July-December 2013, GM sold an average of 483 units/month of the U-VA, while competitors such as Maruti sold over 15,000 units/month of the Swift. In the middle of last year, GM had to stop production of the Sail U-VA diesel due to certain quality issues. Once production resumed in September 2013, the diesel powered Sail twins were issued a recall.
