Small radio controlled cars can be lot of fun and tomorrow at 1 pm starts the 9th international 24 hour race in Andernach/Germany near the Nürburgring. 21 teams each with a group of seven people are starting all together with radio controlled Porsche 997 GT3 Cup bodies on the Andernach Motodrom. One round on that Motodrom about 250 meters.

The car under that body is a radio controlled electronic model in a scale of 1:10 with a 4 wheel drive.

Every team has equal opportunity winning the race when it comes to the car. They have to use same tires, same batteries, same engine and the same body. You can’t be much faster than someone else because it’s not allowed to do anything on the car.

This makes it very difficult for the racers but exciting for the fans around the track. As the race continues in the dark all cars are equipped with LED lights.

This year it’s the first time that every team is driving a Porsche GT3 which have been designed like the original race cars of the Porsche Supercup or long distance races like the legendary 24h race at the famous Nürburgring.

That is a nice hobby and surely more affordable than racing in a real 997 GT3.
