Tata Tigor EV now available to private customers, but only on rent

Tata Motors has expanded the availability of the Tigor EV to private customers, but there’s a catch. The company is offering it only on rent via ZoomCar, and that only in Pune.

Tata Motors has joined hands with self-drive rental platform ZoomCar to offer the Tigor EV to private customers. ZoomCar plans to source 500 electric vehicles from Tata Motors over the next year and provide them in 20 cities. The two companies flagged-off the first batch of Tigor EVs from Concorde Motors in Baner today.

Speaking on the occasion, Shailesh Chandra, President (Electric Mobility Business & Corporate Strategy), Tata Motors, said:

The Tata Tigor EV measures 3,992 mm in length, 1,677 mm in width and 1,537 mm in height. It has a 2,450 mm wheelbase and a 170 mm ground clearance. Powering the zero-emission vehicle is an electric motor sourced from Electra EV that produces a maximum power of 30 kW (40.79 PS) at 4,500 rpm. This electric motor gets its juice from a 72-volt, 216 Ah battery.

Charging the Tigor EV’s battery from 0-80% takes 360 minutes (6 hours) using an AC charger or 90 minutes (1.5 hours) using a DC charger. The pure electric sedan has a driving range of 130 km (as per the MIDC cycle). It can achieve a top speed of 130 km/h.

Tata Motors manufactures the Tigor EV at the Sanand plant in Gujarat. It hasn’t announced when it plans to launch the car for private sales.
