As per the company, the design theme of the 2019 Toyota RAV4 revolves around the elements of ‘Refined’ and ‘Adventure’. The highlights of its exterior include a bold front fascia, robust shoulders, and stylish 19-inch wheels. The adoption of the TNGA platform has resulted in an increase in the wheelbase and the overall width, which leads to a bolder, more planted stance. The shorter front and rear overhangs should aid the new model’s off-road capabilities.
The highlight of the interior is the Entune 3.0 infotainment system, which offers Wi-Fi connectivity, hands-free access to Amazon Alexa, and Apple CarPlay. The advanced unit features a floating-type 7-inch touchscreen interface perched atop the centre stash. The new model offers a JBL-sourced 11-speaker audio system.
Powering the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is a 2.5-litre Dynamic Force petrol engine that works in tandem with two electric motors. The combined power output is rated at 222 PS. Thanks to the TNGA-K architecture, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid benefits from a lower centre of gravity and a 57 per cent increase in the body rigidity as compared to the fourth generation model. It also boasts a 51:49 front to rear weight distribution. The fourth-generation self-charging hybrid powerplant features a Nickel metal-hydride battery pack.
The 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid comes with a CVT along with an electric all-wheel-drive system. According to the company, the torque distribution between the front and the rear wheels ranges from 100:0 to 20:80. Furthermore, the new model comes equipped with an automatic limited-slip differential control system, which has been dubbed Trail Mode. Other than the hybrid powertrain, the UK-spec 2019 Toyota RAV4 will even offer a 2.0-liter petrol engine that will provide manual and CVT automatic transmission choices, along with a manual all-wheel-drive system with dynamic torque vectoring and Rear Driveline Disconnect.
