The Ford Freestyle, which was launched in India on 26 April 2018, is receiving a couple of minor updates with a new 'Ruby Red' exterior paint option. The Figo-based crossover will gain adjustable rear headrests and body-coloured ORVMs, as viewable in the video shared by Autotrend TV.
The Ford Freestyle is on sale with two engine options - 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol and 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel. The petrol unit produces a maximum power of 96 PS along with a peak torque of 120 Nm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. An automatic variant could be launched shortly.
The oil-burner outputs a maximum power of 100 PS and a peak torque of 215 Nm. Once again, the only transmission is a 5-speed manual. Prices of the Figo-based CUV (Compact Utility Vehicle) start at INR 5.23 lakh. The top-end model is priced at INR 7.89 lakh.
The Freestyle is longer, wider, and taller than the Figo. It measures 3,954 mm in length, 1,737 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height. Currently, it is available in six exterior colours - Canyon Ridge. Smoke Grey, Moondust Silver, White Gold, Oxford White, and Absolute Black
The Ford Freestyle is on sale in four trims - Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, and Titanium+. Standard safety features across variants include ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, reverse parking sensors, and rear fog lamp. The range-topping Titanium+ option offers side and curtain airbags, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, Ford MyKey, and SYNC3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
With a monthly sales average of 2,303 units*, the Freestyle has been regularly outperforming the Hyundai i20 Active, Volkswagen Cross Polo and Toyota Etios Cross. The minor updates and the automatic option should undeniably help in finding more takers among festive season shoppers.
