TKM offers two IMV (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle) models in India: Toyota Innova Crysta and Toyota Fortuner. Last year, the company recorded highest-ever IMV sales in the country.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor had launched the second-gen Toyota Innova and the second-gen Toyota Fortuner in 2016. The Toyota Innova Crysta registered 73,000 units in annual sales last year. The Toyota Fortuner saw its highest-ever annual sales since its launch in 2009 last year - 24,000 units. Combined together, 97,000 IMVs were sold last year.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor hasn’t revealed its annual sales figure for last year. However, the company does mention a growth of 5%. Mind that this was despite the multiple hurdles TKM and the auto industry faced last year, including demonitisation and GST roll out. The demand for the Toyota Innova Crysta and Toyota Fortuner was so high, that their deliveries required a waiting period of up to over two months. The plant where these models are produced was operating at 97% capacity to meet the high demand.
