Team-BHP has come up with a new set of spy images of the 2018 Ford Aspire (facelift). While the updated compact sedan has already been revealed through a video that surfaced last week, the latest sighting reveals a rather interesting detail.
Going by these images, the 'Titanium' trim of the 2018 Ford Aspire would be equipped with the FLY audio system (installed on the EcoSport) instead of the SYNC3 infotainment unit. Furthermore, the automatic transmission will be restricted to this variant and won't be on offer on the top-end Titanium+ model.
The highlights of the FLY infotainment unit include - FM music player with Aux-IN, Bluetooth, Media playback from USB, Offline maps by MapMyIndia, Rear view camera with dynamic guidelines, and telephone controls.
The FLY infotainment unit misses out on Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Voice Command features available on the SYNC3 unit.
The introduction of the FLY touchscreen audio system on the Titanium trim leads to the removal of many controls and buttons from the centre console, thereby giving the dashboard a cleaner appearance. The revised panel sports a push start-stop button near the instrument binnacle. The beige-black colour theme has been carried over.
The 2018 Ford Aspire (facelift) is the sedan derivative of the Europe-spec 2018 Ford Ka+. The front-end features a similar mesh grille that is flanked by a chrome surround. The new bumper features C-shaped chrome highlights near the fog lamps. The side profile receives a new set of multi-spoke alloy wheels on the Titanium and the Titanium+ trims. The rear houses a new bumper with faux air vents.
The 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine of the pre-facelift version has been replaced with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder motor from the Dragon series. The engine comes mated to a lighter new generation five-speed manual transmission from Getrag (code: MX65). The compact sedan will also offer an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The new 1.2-litre engine produces a maximum power of 95 hp and a peak torque of 120 Nm. The diesel version will retain the 1.5-litre turbocharged unit with a five-speed manual transmission. The 1498cc engine produces 100 PS and 215 Nm.
The Ford Aspire has an average monthly sales of 1,083 units*. The launch of the facelift should help it catch up to the Maruti Dzire (24,099 units*).
