Land Rover will unveil the second generation Evoque in 2018, reports Autocar UK. The 2019 Range Rover Evoque could make its global debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show scheduled for 4-14 October.
The company says that there will be no radical changes in terms of exterior design. Speaking to the publication, Design Director for Land Rover, Gerry McGovern, said that there is not need to reinvent the concept. He added that new Evoque should not “lose key ingredients” and would be designed with the intention of making it “more relevant”. Land Rover will try to “make the vehicle more modern, precise, more comfortable, more luxurious, those things – not just pure aesthetics”, says McGovern.
The design of the second gen Evoque will seek inspiration from the Range Rover Velar, whose influence has already trickled down to the latest iterations of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. The cabin too will get the dual screen centre console setup seen in the Velar.
The current model's D8 structure will form the basis of the new Evoque, albeit with a thorough overhaul. Dimensionally, the 2019 Range Rover Evoque will not grow too much. It will have a wider track and a slightly longer wheelbase, however. A redesigned trailing arm rear suspension set-up will be used to help improve passenger comfort.

The current 2.0 L Ingenium petrol and 2.0 L Ingenium diesel engines mated 9-speed automatic transmissions will be carried over. They are likely to be retuned for improved efficiency and performance. An electric or plug-in hybrid variant of the Evoque might also be added, but it may go on sale closer to the start of 2020.
