The new Ford EcoSport’s Dragon series petrol engine produces 123 hp and 150 Nm of torque.

The 2018 Ford EcoSport’s 1,497 cc Ti-VCT three-cylinder petrol engine produces 123 hp at 6,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Ford has kept the new engine devoid of advanced technologies like direct injection and turbocharging to keep the costs low. Transmission choices may include 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. Official details aren’t out yet, though.

The facelifted Ford EcoSport will feature a more aggressive front-end and a more contemporary interior with cues borrowed from the company’s other global models like the Ford Edge, Ford Kuga and Ford Fiesta. The new model will feature larger headlamps, a more prominent hexagonal grille, triangular fog lamps, a grab bar on the dashboard, new three-spoke steering wheel and instrument cluster, redesigned centre console and a floating central display for the new Ford SYNC 3 infotainment system.

The current Ford EcoSport is available with a 100 PS 1.5-litre TDCi engine, and facelifted model should continue with it. However, one of the petrol engines (112 PS 1.5-litre TiVCT petrol and 125 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost), likely the former, is likely to be replaced by the Dragon unit. The 2018 Ford EcoSport’s deliveries will begin in November.
