The 2017 SsangYong Rexton debuted at the 2017 Seoul Motor Show last month and went on sale in South Korea last Tuesday. According to a report from Korea Joongang Daily, the all-new SsangYong Rexton attracted more than 3,500 customers since bookings opened on 17 April. The company has set a sales target of 20,000 Rextons in 2017.
SsangYong says that the second generation SsangYong Rexton's styling is inspired by the Greek temple Parthenon. The all-new Rexton measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width and 1,825 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,865 mm. It's 95 mm longer, 60 mm wider and 40 mm taller than the previous generation model. The wheelbase is also 30 mm longer.
The 2017 SsangYong Rexton is powered by the 2.2-litre e-XDi220 LET diesel engine that produces 187 PS at 3,800 rpm and 42.8 kg.m (419.72 Nm) of torque between 1,600 rpm and 2,600 rpm. This engine paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission from SsangYong, and four-wheel drive is optional. For regions where petrol is the fuel preference, SsangYong will offer the e-XGDi200T engine with the Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission.
The 2017 SsangYong Rexton is available in Luxury, Prime, Majesty and Heritage grades. Noteworthy features include LED daytime running lights, LED fog and cornering lamps, LED positioning lamps, 20-inch wheels, 7-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster, 9.2-inch HD infotainment system Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation, 3D around view monitor, Autonomous Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Front Vehicle Start Alarm (FVSA).
