Likely to be priced around INR 15 lakh.
The Toyota C-HR (short for 'Coupe High Rider') went on sale in Japan in December, and will be launched in more markets this year. In mid-2018, India also will get this small crossover, says a report from Autocar India.
The Toyota C-HR is the company's latest global crossover/SUV model. Pitted against the Nissan Juke and the Honda HR-V, the Toyota C-HR sits in the B-segment. Measuring 4,360 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width and 1,565 mm in height, and having a wheelbase of 2,640 mm, the C-HR will be bigger than the Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta. However, Toyota wanted this model to be a radical coupe-crossover, and so, it has kept the vehicle's height notably lower.
The India-spec Toyota C-HR could be powered by the smaller and economical 2NR-FE 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder petrol engine that is reportedly going to be offered in the Indonesian-spec Toyota C-HR later this year. This engine has been developed for emerging markets and powers the India-bound Toyota Vios also. In an interview with Reuters, Didier Leroy, Executive Vice President, Toyota Motor Corporation, said that the C-HR won't be offered with a diesel engine due to sharply falling demand.

To put into perspective, the Toyota C-HR's pricing will be between the Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Tucson in terms of pricing, with the base model likely starting at around INR 15 lakh. The fourth-gen Prius is said to go on sale in India later this year, but the C-HR may be the very first locally-made TNGA platform-based model.
