Has a maximum range of 160 km.
The Nissan Leaf electric car was showcased at the 2014 Colombo Motor Show in Sri Lanka by Spark Electric Vehicles who specialize in importing electric cars.
It's to be noted that Associated Motorways Ltd., Nissan's official distributor for Sri Lanka, does not have the electric city car in its portfolio. Spark Electric Vehicles will import the Leaf from Japan upon request.
The spacious family car is powered by a synchronous front-mounted electric motor which is rated at 107 PS (105.53 bhp) and a healthy torque of 253.53 Nm available from 0 rpm. A single-speed gearbox takes care of transmission duties.
A 22 KWh lithium ion battery pack supplies the electricity which is supported by an onboard charger and a regenerative braking system. The vehicle has a maximum claimed range of 200 km and a top speed of 122 km/h. The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 11.5 seconds.
The Nissan Leaf is equipped with six airbags, ABS, EBD, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Traction Control, tyre pressure monitoring system, Bose infotainment system with 7.0-inch color display, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, Around View Monitor, climate control, cruise control, etc.
The vehicle is priced at LKR 3.8 million (INR 17.87 lakhs). Nissan has no immediate plans to launch the Leaf in India though the car was displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo.
