Automarket.ro reader Daniel Vitelaru has spotted the 2014 BMW X5 (code - F15) during its tests in Germany. Although covered in camouflage, the aesthetic changes, revealed via leaks and less camouflaged past prototypes, are instantly recognizable.
The new X5 is based on a modified chassis of the current 5 Series bearing more fuel efficient powertrains. Its world premiere will be held at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
Note that the headlights are larger and the front grille is inspired by the new 3 Series GT, being wider and extending into the headlights. The dashboard, though not seen in these photographs, features a different layout hosting a larger LCD screen. The iDrive knob gets a pad that can read gestures.
