USA – GM’s Lansing plant builds 1 millionth Cadillac

Shivaguru Prabhakaran,

Hi guys, this is Shivaguru! I am very much excited to be a part of the team. I have a small collection of scale models and intend to get more in the future. I look forward to see what the creative mind can create in technology and cars, reinventing the way we travel.

General Motor’s Lansing Grand River Assembly plant has rolled out the 1 millionth Cadillac today. The milestone car happens to be the yet to go on sale 2014 Cadillac CTS, and is painted in a ‘Red Obsession Tintcoat’ color. The new CTS reaches dealers this October.

Since it commenced operations nearly 12 years ago (in late 2001), the Lansing Grand River plant has been dedicated to making rear-wheel drive cars. Apart from building every CTS ever made, the plant also assembles the ATS sedan, the CTS coupe and wagon, and the high-performance CTS-V model.

The Lansing plant also undertakes exports to 11 worldwide locations. The 2.5 million square foot facility has a total of 1,541 employees working in two shifts. Over the past three years, GM has invested 190 million USD for the production of the ATS and 88 million dollars for the production of the new CTS.

One million Michigan-made Cadillacs is a great milestone for Lansing and for luxury car-building in America. Lansing Grand River is an essential ingredient of Cadillac’s growth. It is a benchmark for luxury car manufacturing in North America, which takes another step forward today with the launch of the new CTS.
