As of today, the price of petrol in Pakistan is around Rs. 61 (INR) per litre and in India it is around Rs. 72.

That partly explains why Honda was convinced to launch the next gen models of Civic and CR-V in Pakistan.

The ninth generation Civic was launched in Pakistan yesterday while the new CR-V was launched a few weeks ago.

The new Civic inherits lots of design elements from the smaller City. The front fascia with chrome inserts on the grill and sleek headlamps is very much similar to the current City albeit having a wider and low slung stance. The headlamp units get HID bulbs.

The profile has a slightly different silhouette owing to the new front and rear fascias.

On the rear, there is nothing in common with the outgoing Civic. The swept back tail lamps are completely new and just like in the Accord extend to the boot lid.

The new steering wheel is chunkier and gets controls for audio and cruise control systems. The central console is a bit more inclined towards the driver and the audio system buttons look a bit boring. A central console mounted multifunctional touchscreen is available but only as an option.

Power comes from the same 1.8 litre i-VTEC engine but develops 141 bhp and is mated to either a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

The new Civic in Pakistan ranges from Rs. 11.25 lakhs to Rs. 13.25 lakhs, in today's rupee value.

Honda India is concentrating on the Brio and the City and is certainly not in a hurry to bring the new Civic here.
