The Range Rover Velar and the Range Rover Velar First Edition have been showcased at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The front fascia of the Range Rover Velar features an optional matrix LED headlights which flank the foil stamped grille. The floating roof complements the continuous waistline. Flush deployable door handle and an integrated rear spoiler improve the aerodynamics. The SUV is 4,803 mm long, 2145 mm wide, without mirrors, and 1,665 mm high. The wheelbase is 2,874 mm.

On the inside, highlights of the SUV’s features include a Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, with two high-definition 10-inch touchscreens; 8-way manual adjustable seats with heated front seat, and a Land Rover 8-speaker sound system. There’s an optional rear seat entertainment system that features two 8 inch screens in the headrests. The system has two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI and Mobile High-Definition Link that supports most smartphones, tablets or other devices. It also includes two sets of WhiteFire connected headphones and wireless remote. A four-zone climate control is optional as well.

The Velar gets a choice of six petrol and diesel engines. The entry-level D180 is a 2-litre diesel engine that makes 180 PS and 430 Nm. The same engine in the D240 guise makes 240 PS and 500 Nm. The D300 is a 3.0-litre V6 diesel mill that produces 300 PS and 700 Nm. Among the petrol variants, the 2.0 litre P250 develops 250 PS and 365 Nm; while the P300 is good for 300 PS and 400 Nm. A 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol variant, the P380 makes 380 PS and 450 Nm. All the engine variants match with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. The SUV comes with a torque-on-demand all-wheel-drive system as well.
Notable safety features include Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Reverse Traffic Detection and Driver Condition Monitoring; Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist and an Adaptive Speed Limiter, and six airbags. The prices of the Velar start from GBP 44,830.
Range Rover Velar First Edition
The Range Rover Velar First Edition will be available worldwide for one model year only. It is even more luxurious than the HSE specification and is powered by the 3.0-litre V6 petrol and diesel engines (D300 & P380). It gets extra features as standard, including full extended leather interior trim to complement the perforated Windsor leather seats in Light Oyster or Ebony; 1,600W Meridian Signature Sound System; Matrix-Laser LED headlights and 22-inch split-spoke wheels with a diamond-turned finish.

Exterior paint colours for the First Edition are Corris Grey, Silicon Silver, and Flux Silver – a unique satin finish exclusive to the First Edition for the first model year only. Starting price for the First Edition is from GBP 83,350.
