Indian Autos Blog learns that Tata Motors has already launched the refreshed Ace in the Indian market. The facelifted Tata Ace was first shown at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi early last year. Senior Tata officials showcased the vehicle once again in November last year during the celebration of the sale of the 1 millionth Ace, but didn't confirm a launch date.

The refreshed Ace gets a new front fascia, complete with redesigned lights, a new grille and body-colored bumpers.

At the ongoing India International Commercial Vehicle Show in Chennai this week, we were greeted by this Ace facelift in Tata Motors's stall. We were informed that the soft launch had already taken place last month and that the dealers were asked to commence bookings immediately. The Chennai dealers have already sold a few initial units as well.

The bulk of the changes in the refreshed Ace is concentrated on the front fascia. Where the old Ace had separate circularly-shaped headlights and indicators, the refresh combines these lights into a rectangularly-shaped enclosure. This, with a redesigned grille gives the refreshed Ace a matured appearance.

The interiors see a new steering wheel, a new dashboard, along with a music system (not seen in this display vehicle) and a mobile charging point.

The bumpers are now body colored while the wing mirrors have been widened a bit, based on customer feedback. Interior upgrades come in the form of a new steering wheel, new fabrics for the seats, a music system and the addition of a mobile charging point.

The mechanicals remain the same which means that the 702cc diesel engine producing 16hp and 38Nm of torque is retained. The proposed DICOR engined Ace has not been introduced yet.
