Yamaha YZ R125 is a sport motorcycle that has been on sale since 2008. The supersport is designed by Yamaha and manufactured by MBK Industrie. Yamaha YZ R125 shares a lot in common with its siblings, the Yamaha MT-15.
On the international market, the YZ R125 is in its third generation. Back in 2019, Yahama introduced the MotoGP edition of the R125 overseas. The special edition is inspired by the M1 bikes of Moster Enger Yamaha MotoGP. Earlier this year, in the European market, the supersport was given small updates to comply with the more strict Euro-Five standard.
Yamaha YZ R125 is given inspirations from some of its siblings. Upfront, it comes with a sleek twin-LED headlight setup and transparent visor. The tank is shaped to provide a nice grip for the rider as well as complement the overall design of the motorcycle. It comes in four colour schemes: blue, black, blue with grey highlight and black with white inserts. The last two options are just added to the 2021 YZ R125 lately.
Yamaha YZ R125 is offered with features like an LCD instrument console, LED headlight, and 14-section rear wheel. The LCD instrumentation displays various information, including speed, tachometer, odometer, fuel level, engine temperature, fuel consumption, and more. There are also light to indicate the status of the gear shift light, ABS light and service light.
The braking duties are handled by a 292 mm disc up front and a 230 mm unit in the rear. Dual-channel ABS is also a part of the pack. Other features include an engine kill switch, electric starter, step-up split seats.
Powering the Yamaha YZ R125 is a 124.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled SOHC engine that belts out a top power of 15 PS and a maximum torque of 11.5 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed gearbox. This motor is assisted by Variable Valve Actuation technology that helps to smooth out the performance of the R125. Moreover, there is also a slip and assist clutch in action.
About the mechanic setup, the YZ R125 is suspended on 41mm upside-down forks for the front and a monoshock for the rear. To keep the weight under check, Yamaha employs a lightweight Deltabox frame that is also used on R25 along with an aluminium swingarm.
It is unlikely that Yamaha YZ R125 will make its way to our shore any time soon. Right now, Yamaha has already got the R15 V3 as the entry-level fully-fairing motorcycle in India. The R15 V3 is gaining good sale in our market. It means there is no need for Yamaha to introduce the R125 here.
